Meet the Principal

Sandra Hernandez

Principal Sandra Hernandez

Sandra Hernandez has served the Dallas ISD community since 2010 as a teacher, mentor, Campus Instructional Coach, and Instructional Lead Coach. She received her undergraduate degree in Applied Arts and Science from the University of North Texas at Denton and her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of North Texas at Dallas. Mrs. Hernandez is also a member of the Association of Hispanic School Administrators where she collaborates with other leaders from the Metroplex to champion student success. Her educational experiences have afforded her the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group of people to meet the common goal of increasing student achievement and well-being.

Mrs. Hernandez is happily married and continues to reside in the Dallas community where she has lived her entire life. She is also a mother to three amazing children who are her pride and joy. After achieving her Bachelor’s Degree and becoming a first-generation college graduate, her main goal was to return to her community in Pleasant Grove and serve Dallas ISD and help students have access to high-quality learning experiences and positive school culture. As a classroom teacher, she discovered her passion for student learning and creating a positive learning environment for all students. Mrs. Hernandez is always focused on student success. She has led the implementation of new programs and best practices for teaching and learning.

Mrs. Hernandez believes that some of the most important components of a great school should start with building relationships and having a growth mindset, as well as collaboration with parents. In her educational philosophy, Mrs. Hernandez firmly believes that all students can learn, given a positive learning environment, strong and knowledgeable leadership, a committed and focused educational team, an encouraging community, and a supportive family.

As a servant leader who strives toward developing lifelong learners, Mrs. Hernandez is a firm believer in Nelson Mandela’s quote, “Education is the Most Powerful tool to Change the World.” Her father would always tell her that no one could take her education from her, she carried that with her wherever she went.
